Your solvents frozen here on the petal rung is all we have to see enlarged inside as we enspy the warming sea.
Your breath diffused and never realized aside from where the panicked hide and I just a subtle lift provider on the other side.

Creative Take on the Album:
Downward is Heavenward, Hum's fourth full length album, is a journey through a landscape of layered guitars and vocals, which seem to fit like held hands. The first song on the album, Isle of the Cheetah, brings this into clear focus for the listener. Vocal harmonies ride along the crest of sounds created by the instruments leaving the listener in rapture. Celestial and sincere, each song transports the listener to another place. The effort and intelligence behind the lyrics are unmistakable and something which separates Hum from all the rest. In If You Are To Bloom, Matt Talbott, Hum's frontman, weaves a wistful tale of life lost and love carried on. Masterfully produced by Hum and Mark Rubel, each song fits into the tapestry of the album as a whole. Dynamic and bold, this is the one CD I cannot live without. Simply put, Downward is Heavenward is worth its weight in gold. This album deserves nothing less than your full attention, so do yourself a favor when you get home after you've purchased the album, turn off all the lights and listen with a quality pair of headphones. I'll see you on the other side.

Hello to all of our wonderful friends in Champaign, and warmest thanks to our loving families.

Creative Take on the Album:
The music on You'd Prefer an Astronaut, the band's major label debut, washes over you like a silvery wave, all sandy and swirling, collapsing time into seamless drones from a life-size accordion hidden somewhere behind the couch. Indistinct sounds swoop in and out, rolling over and around, shifting under your ears and flowing out all over the floor over the course of the often epic-sounding five and six minute mini-symphonies conjured by these shy lads from Champaign, Illinois. Not to mention the fact that sometimes, they just plain rock with barrages of notes and sound that smack you silly. But make no mistake, these boys have space on their mind, in more ways than one. Not quite a concept album, at least not according to Talbott, the record nonetheless manages to make reference to stars, space, heaven and sky on almost every song, especially the trio of songs that open the disc, Little Dipper, The Pod, and, Stars. This triptych of trippy voyages, disrupted lunar travels and space funk, Talbott's subtle voice carrying on under all the musical static. Content to let the vocals be mixed down, until they almost disappear under the mix, songs like Little Dipper, dip and slide, with swirling, humming guitars that overtake Talbott's voice and sound like water slowly flowing down a shiny silver drain. The other space, the non-vocal expanses, are to be found in the music itself, in which, where other bands may have poured on the juice, Hum let less say more.

The Wednesday whistle blasted and the cling-clang activity of the #7ORION mine9 slammed to a silent halt. I jostled into the lifter and thought of the weekend ahead, knowing I would pass it as I had all the others, in the planet's gravity rooms, swilling beer, hands on the feelers, watching Electra dance.

Release Info:
The original release features black HUM lettering. It includes the "Monty Python Organ Grinder" at the end of "Winder", and was limited to 1,000 copies. The second release features red HUM lettering, and is otherwise the same as the first. The third release features metallic bronze HUM lettering. This one has a 10th track called "Diffuse", but does not have the Monty Python track.
